Dogs
Security at Bluebird Farm & Horse Ranch is maintained by the Anatolian Shepherd Ben, assisted by the hunting Labrador Zeke, the cattle dog Cowboy, and the Toy Poodle Filbert, whom prefers working covert in the flowers.
By far the most intimidating presence is Ben, but don’t let his tough guy exterior fool you: he is a guardian, and not a guard dog. He thwarts potential threats to his charges by staying with his flocks of poultry and herds of livestock – using his presence to protect them from any intruders. He does not go looking for a fight, nor does he attack randomly, but he will defend his property passionately. Ben also enjoys patrolling the fence line and requires no encouragement to rid the farm of coyotes, stray dogs, or would be burglars.
The dogs are fun to be around and though they may bark at strangers, you will only be a stranger for a few moments! Then its happy wagging tails all around!
The dogs go hunting, camping, fishing, and boating through out the year. They are the center of many photographs and the warm souls at the hearth every winter evening. They will be eager to meet you should you decide to stop by!
