Little Guy Funquest aka “Kiaik”
One of Bluebird Farm & Horse Ranch’s favorite riding horses was American Morgan Horse Association gelding "Little Guy Funquest" affectionately known as ‘Kiaik’ – which means Dream in the Shasta Indian language. Kiaik was born in 1985 and was a part of the family ever since he was two years old. Kiaik passed away from a heart condition in 2011, leaving a legacy with the entire family. All who knew him have missed him greatly.
Aside from being an excellent riding horse, Kiaik was also a great babysitter, as can be seen in the photo above. Kiaik stood 15.3 hands high and weighed approximately 1,100 pounds. He also helped out during the weaning process, by keeping the young horses company, and he was a steady horse to use for ponying and breaking young riding horses. Kiaik loved to go camping and elk hunting and would cross anything you put in his path: water, foot bridges, goat trails, and he would even swim the river!
The cherished picture of Kiaik and a pasture mate (above) was featured in the Horse Illustrated Magazine July 2004 issue; and on the Morgan Horse Association’s web page. The pictures on this webpage were taken when Kiaik was 18 years old or older. He remained beautiful and happy until the day he died.
