Crossbred Pigs
A farm just would not be complete without some bacon on the hoof! Bluebird Farm & Horse Ranch has a crossbred sow that is artificially inseminated every eight to ten months. Piglets, pictured above, are destined to provide the family with some high quality, home-grown pork.
The sow is 50% Yorkshire, and the rest Durok and Spotted Hog. Occasionally piglets are offered for sale, and a few butcher hogs for slaughter. Piglets are terminal crosses consisting of mostly Durok or Berkshire. They are hardy and friendly, with a very playful attitude. They can be found packing their dish around, as well as any wayward jackets, tools, toys, and/or feedbags.
Most piglets offered for sale are priced according to the average at current local auctions, which can be visited at the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service webpage. At this time, we are not offering any piglets or butcher hogs for sale.
