What’s New

Replacement Heifers

Bluebird Farm & Horse Ranch had the opportunity to purchase some high quality Charolais heifers from the University of Idaho. These sweet tempered girls will fit in nicely with the menagerie of critters making their home here. They are expected to enter the breeding program some time next year.

Autumn and All Its Glory

Nothing is more beautiful than aspen trees in the fall! Bluebird Farm & Horse Ranch had a bountiful garden this year, as can be seen in the photos below. Crisp mornings and frosty nights beneath the harvest moon have turned most of the plants into dry stalks, leaving only potatoes, onions, and carrots to be collected. Autumn is the best time of year! The gathering is completed and hunting season begins!

Happy Halloween!

The annual Halloween spider has returned for another year of haunting! He appears much scarier in the dark. Hope you drive by some time at night to see him!

A Great Loss

Due to a freak accident, Bluebird Farm & Horse Ranch has lost the herd sire: “Wings of Wyoming.” He severely injured several tendons on multiple limbs while attempting to jump a gate during the night, and was subsequently euthanized. His passing has greatly changed the breeding focus of the farm, and his wonderful personality will be sorely missed.

A New Barn Kitty!

Bluebird Farm & Horse Ranch has acquired another rodent population administrator: “River” the Turkish Van cat. He has been welcomed by the many other cats and is adjusting well. He even likes the big guard dog, Ben! Like all Turkish Van cats, he has a fetish for water and can be found playing in the duck pond or balancing on the edge of the horse troughs. He is quite an interesting kitty!

Another Graduation!

Annie Bowes, the owner of Bluebird Farm & Horse Ranch, has a brother that just graduated from boot camp for the National Guard. During our time of war and worldly unrest, it is an honor to be affiliated with a member of the armed service. Annie and her family are very proud of her brother, Roy Brodmerkle, as he begins his career in the military. May the Lord keep all our soldiers safe.

Adam’s Orphans

These tiny girls are too young to be away from their mother, but Adam and his Grandmother were eager to take her place so they wouldn’t starve. The two kittens were only a few weeks old when they arrived and have been bottle fed around the clock for the last ten days. Now they are starting to run and around and do cute kitten things. They may be in need of a new home soon, if Adam can bear to let them go!

Our Newest Addition

Ben is a working dog that recently hired on to Bluebird Farm & Horse Ranch. Due to the loss of several poultry to neighbor dogs or coyotes, it was decided that our 85 pound Labrador just wasn’t intimidating enough. You can see by the photo below that Ben is considerably bigger than the Labrador and being an Anatolian Shepherd, Ben is also much more protective. He has proven himself to be quite reliable and very loyal. Anatolian Shepherds are famous for being flock guardians, and it appears that Ben is a true representative of the breed.
